On the afternoon of April 15, 2023, Hop Luc Joint Stock Corporation and BAO JIE International Joint Stock Company (TABO Company) jointly organized a workshop on environmental protection cremation technology in Hanoi.
Attending the workshop were: Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam – Deputy Director of the Department of Technical Infrastructure of the Ministry of Construction, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van De – Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Vietnam Private Hospital Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hop Luc Joint Stock Corporation; Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh – Delegate of the 18th Provincial People’s Council, Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Hop Luc Joint Stock Corporation, Mrs. Nguyen Bao Uyen – Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hop Luc Joint Stock Corporation, and more than 100 delegates representing central ministries/departments/sectors, leaders of provinces and cities.
At the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh reported on the process of building and developing the cremation sector of Hop Luc Joint Stock Corporation over the past 9 years. At the same time, it sets out development goals, orientations and recommendations to strengthen planning management, exploitation and rational use of land funds in localities, through preferential policies and mechanisms, calling for and attracting investment.
Speaking at the workshop, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van De shared: Currently, the concept of cremation for the deceased is still “heavy” among the majority of people, causing land funds to be narrowed in many places, leading to “conflicts” over land between the living and the deceased. In particular, in some provinces, the custom of keeping the body of the deceased in the house for a long time before burial is still maintained, causing many consequences for the environment and public health. Therefore, it is necessary to promote propaganda work, change people’s awareness, and at the same time, there need to be policies to support the creation of land funds to attract businesses to invest in the field of cremation.
Also at the workshop, delegates discussed issues related to legal procedures; policies, decrees and equipment and technology in the field of cremation. After listening to opinions, on behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam said that cremation technology is a modern, advanced and civilized technology, not only saving land but also contributing significantly to environmental protection. Currently, ministries/sectors are discussing and finalizing decrees on post-investment management in this field such as: Operational procedures, planning standards for cemeteries and cremations. He said that in the coming time, the Ministry of Construction will coordinate with relevant sectors to study and submit to the Government for approval of projects to synchronize and specify solutions to support localities and investors in the construction of cremation facilities.
